Based on a true story, this film spans six decades from the 1960s to the 2020s. In 1968, Lu Dongmei, a Beijing woman in her early twenties, was assigned to work at a remote grassroots hospital in northern Shaanxi after graduating from medical school—a turning point that dramatically altered the course of her life. Through painful struggles and difficult choices, the young Lu Dongmei eventually became deeply connected to the yellow earth of the Loess Plateau.The film interweaves flashbacks to piece together her fifty-year journey, portraying how she devoted her prime years to this cherished land and how her destiny became inseparable from the lives of its people.
